The goal of this grant is to improve the representation of terrestrial ecosystem processes, with a view towards advancing sophistication and accuracy of Earth system models, thereby improving the quality of Earth and environmental model projections and providing the scientific foundation for DoE's mission. Both single investigator projects and multi-investigator projects are encouraged. 

Applications are encouraged in the following specific terrestrial ecosystem science areas:
Science Area 1 – Interactions between Above- and Belowground Processes and Traits
Science Area 2 – Terrestrial-Aquatic Interfaces
​Science Area 3 – Disturbance
